A Chronological Journey
through the Bible in 2012 |
|
|
Using the reading plan
developed by Dr. George
Guthrie, author of
Read the Bible for Life,
in 2012 First Baptist Church
is reading the Bible through
together in chronological
order. The reading plan we
are using is divided into
weekly segments with six
readings each week, with day
one falling on Sunday of
each week. There are several
options using the same
reading plan. One is a
reader’s guide (recommended)
that includes the reading
plan, extra daily
introductions and insights
into your reading. Another
option is a daily
chronological Bible in the
same translation as the
Bible found in our sanctuary
pews.
A two-page reading plan just
showing the
weekly readings is available
for download by clicking the
link in the right column of
this page. Even if you use
the Reader's Guide, this
two-page plan is helpful for
marking your place in your
Bible or simply tracking
your reading.
Whatever option you choose, prayerfully consider
reading the Bible through
with us in the coming year.
It will change your life.

Accountability/Discussion
Groups |
|
|
Wednesday Nights at 6:00
p.m. in
the Parlor
Sunday Nights at 6:00 p.m.
in the Parlor
These optional small groups
will meet when possible
throughout the year to
provide for times of
discussion for what we are
reading. These groups will
also provide encouragement
and accountability as we
read through the Bible
together. Anyone is welcome.
These groups will also
provide time to discuss Dr.
Gil McKee's Sunday morning
messages, which will come
from the previous week's
reading. These messages are
available for viewing on our
Sermons
webpage.

What does "Chronological
Order" mean? |
|
|
A chronological reading plan
arranges the complete text
of the Bible in the order in
which the events in the
Bible mostly likely
occurred. In the reading
plan we will use "the books,
chapters, and verses of the
Bible are thoughtfully
arranged so readers can
track the story of
Scripture, day by day, from
beginning to end,
understanding the flow of
events and how all the
different parts fit together
to make sense." (info from
Read the Bible for Life
website)
