What We Believe |
|
|
|
The Bible |
|
We believe the Bible
is God’s revelation
of Himself to man.
While written by men
divinely inspired,
God is the Author of
the Bible. The
Bible is truth
without any mixture
of error. It
reveals God’s
principles for life
and is the supreme
standard upon which
all human conduct,
creeds, and
religious opinions
should be based. |
|
God |
|
We believe there is
one and only one
living and true God.
He is an
intelligent,
spiritual, and
personal Being.
He is the Creator,
Redeemer, Preserver,
and Ruler of the
universe. God
is infinitely holy
and perfect.
He manifests Himself
to us as Father, Son
(Jesus Christ), and
Holy Spirit, with
distinct personal
attributes, but
without division of
nature, essence, or
being. |
|
Mankind |
|
We believe that
mankind was created
in the image of God
and is the crowning
work of God’s
creation. In
the beginning
mankind was innocent
of sin but was given
by the Creator
freedom of choice.
Unfortunately, by
the free choice of
the first two people
ever created,
mankind sinned
against God and
brought sin into the
human race.
Because of that
transgression every
member of the human
race has inherited a
nature inclined
toward sin, and as
soon as they are
capable of moral
action become
transgressors and
separated from God.
Only the grace of
God can bring a
person back into a
right relationship
with God.
Because God created
mankind in His image
and because Christ
died for mankind
every human being
possesses dignity
and is worthy of
respect and
Christian love. |
|
Salvation |
|
We believe that
salvation from sin
and eternal life in
heaven is offered
freely to all who
accept Jesus Christ
as their Lord and
Savior, Who by His
own blood obtained
eternal redemption
for the believer.
Salvation is a work
of God’s grace
whereby believers
become new creatures
in Jesus Christ.
We believe that
repentance and faith
are inseparable
experiences of God’s
grace.
Repentance is a
genuine turning from
sin toward God.
Faith is the
acceptance of Jesus
Christ and
commitment to Him as
Lord and Savior.
Therefore, we
believe that
salvation comes when
a person genuinely
repents of his sin
and places his
complete faith in
Jesus Christ alone. |
|
Church |
|
We believe that the
New Testament refers
to the Church as the
body of Christ and
speaks of the church
in two ways.
First, it speaks of
the church as a
local body of Christ
in which believers
are associated by
faith and fellowship
of the gospel,
observing the two
ordinances of
Christ, committed to
His teachings, and
seeking to extend
the gospel to the
ends of the earth.
Second, the New
Testament speaks of
the church
universally as the
body of Christ in
all times and
places. |
|
Ordinances |
|
We believe and
practice two church
ordinances:
Christian baptism
and the Lord’s
Supper.
Christian baptism is
the immersion of a
believer in water in
the name of the
Father, the Son, and
the Holy Spirit.
Christian baptism is
an act of obedience
symbolizing the
believer’s faith in
the crucified,
buried, and risen
Savior, Jesus
Christ. It
also symbolizes the
believer’s death to
sin, the burial of
the old life, and
the resurrection to
walk in newness of
life in Christ.
The Lord’s Supper is
a symbolic act of
obedience whereby
believers, through
partaking of bread
and fruit juice
remember and
memorialize the
death of Christ and
anticipate His
second coming. |
|
Evangelism and
Missions |
|
We believe it is the
privilege and duty
of every believer
and every church to
strive to take the
gospel to all people
and to all nations.
Because it is
expressly and
repeatedly commanded
in the teachings of
Christ, it is the
duty of every
believer to seek
constantly to
personally, and by
all other means and
methods, to share
the gospel with all
people. |
|
Stewardship |
|
We believe that God
is the source of all
blessings and that
all we have and are
we owe to Him.
As a result
believers are
spiritual debtors
and have a binding
responsibility and
stewardship in their
time, talents, and
material possessions
to use them for the
glory of God and for
helping others.
According to the
Bible, believers
should give of their
means cheerfully,
regularly,
systematically,
proportionately, and
liberally for the
advancement of the
cause of Christ on
earth. |
